Sequel Coffee Co. (“Sequel,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) values the trust you place in us, whether you are visiting our café, coming through the drive-thru, ordering ahead, joining our rewards program, connecting to guest Wi-Fi, booking our mobile coffee cart, or simply visiting our website.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect personal information when you interact with Sequel Coffee Co., including through sequelcoffeeco.com, our physical locations, digital ordering and loyalty experiences, guest Wi-Fi, marketing communications, events, mobile coffee cart services, and other services or experiences we provide (collectively, the “Services”).

By using our Services, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

The information we collect depends on how you interact with Sequel.

Information You Provide to Us

Contact and account information. We may collect information such as your name, email address, telephone number, mailing or billing address, and account information when you contact us, create an account, join a loyalty or rewards program, place an order, connect to guest Wi-Fi, make an inquiry, or otherwise interact with us.

Order and transaction information. When you make a purchase in our café or drive-thru, place a QR code or mobile order, purchase a gift card, or otherwise transact with us, we may receive information regarding the items purchased, order date and time, location, order preferences, discounts or rewards applied, transaction amount, and related transaction information.

Payment card information is generally processed by our third-party payment processors and point-of-sale providers. Sequel does not need to receive or retain your complete payment card number in order to process most transactions. We may receive limited payment-related information such as transaction status, payment method, a tokenized payment identifier, or portions of a card number.

Loyalty and rewards information. If you participate in a Sequel loyalty or rewards program, we may collect your contact information, loyalty account information, points or rewards balances, redemption activity, purchase history, and other information needed to administer the program.

Coffee cart and event information. If you inquire about or book Sequel’s mobile coffee cart or another event service, we may collect information such as your name, company or organization, email address, telephone number, event date and time, event location, expected guest count, service preferences, menu selections, dietary or accessibility requests you choose to provide, billing information, tax-exemption information, and communications regarding your event.

We generally do not collect personal information about individual event guests merely because they receive a beverage from the Sequel coffee cart. If an event guest separately interacts with another Sequel service, such as our loyalty program, digital ordering, marketing program, or another data-collecting service, the practices applicable to that interaction will apply.

Guest Wi-Fi information. When you connect to complimentary Wi-Fi at a Sequel location, we may collect information provided through the Wi-Fi login experience, such as your name, email address, telephone number, login method, marketing preferences or consent, feedback, and related information. We may also receive device, network, connection, and visit information, such as device identifiers and the dates or times of visits or connections.

Depending on the login methods made available, information may also be provided through a third-party account or authentication provider.

Marketing preferences. If you subscribe to emails, text messages, promotions, or other communications, we may collect your contact information, subscription status, consent information, communication preferences, and information regarding how you interact with our communications.

Communications and feedback. We may collect information you provide when contacting us, completing a form, responding to a survey, submitting feedback, requesting customer support, participating in a promotion, communicating through social media, or otherwise corresponding with Sequel.

Career information. If you apply for employment with Sequel, we may collect information contained in your application, résumé, communications, and other information you voluntarily provide in connection with employment consideration.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our website or use certain digital Services, we and our service providers may automatically collect information including your IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, referring website, pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location derived from IP address, date and time of access, and information about how you interact with our website or digital Services.

We may collect this information through cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, log files, and similar technologies.

Information From Other Sources

We may receive personal information from service providers and business partners that help us operate Sequel, including our website hosting provider, point-of-sale provider, online ordering provider, loyalty provider, payment processors, guest Wi-Fi provider, marketing platforms, analytics providers, social media platforms, and event or business partners.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information to operate and improve the Sequel experience.

This includes providing products and services; processing and fulfilling purchases and orders; facilitating café, drive-thru, QR, and mobile ordering; processing payments; maintaining customer and loyalty accounts; administering points, rewards, discounts, and promotions; providing gift cards; responding to questions and customer-service requests; preparing quotes and coordinating mobile coffee cart services and events; operating guest Wi-Fi; communicating regarding orders, accounts, events, or other transactions; detecting or preventing fraud, misuse, security incidents, or other harmful activity; maintaining and improving our website, menu, products, operations, and guest experience; analyzing customer engagement and business performance; complying with legal, accounting, tax, and regulatory obligations; and protecting the rights, property, safety, and security of Sequel, our guests, team members, and others.

Where permitted by law and consistent with your communication preferences, we may also use information to send news, offers, promotions, menu announcements, event information, loyalty communications, and other marketing that we believe may be relevant to you.

3. Loyalty and Rewards

Participation in Sequel’s loyalty or rewards program is voluntary.

When you participate, information about your account and transactions may be associated with your loyalty profile so that we can award points, recognize eligible purchases, provide rewards, prevent misuse, and understand program participation.

Our loyalty technology provider may provide features that allow customers to associate certain payment credentials or other identifiers with a loyalty account. Such payment credentials may be tokenized or otherwise managed by the technology or payment provider rather than stored directly by Sequel.

Participation in our loyalty program does not automatically constitute consent to receive promotional text messages where separate consent is legally required.

From time to time, loyalty participation may provide discounts, rewards, complimentary products, or other benefits in exchange for voluntary participation and the information needed to administer the program. Additional program terms may apply.

4. QR Code, Online, and Mobile Ordering

Sequel may offer QR code ordering, web-based ordering, mobile order-ahead, digital storefronts, or similar ordering experiences.

These experiences may be powered by Toast or another technology provider. When you use one of these services, information may be collected both by Sequel and by the technology provider operating the service.

Information collected may include your name, email address, telephone number, order details, pickup information, account information, loyalty information, device information, payment information, and marketing preferences.

Third-party platforms may process information under their own privacy policies in addition to this Privacy Policy.

5. Guest Wi-Fi

Sequel may provide complimentary guest Wi-Fi through a third-party Wi-Fi platform, such as Social WiFi.

When you choose to connect, information may be collected to authenticate your connection, provide network access, maintain network security, understand visits and usage, improve the guest experience, request feedback, and perform analytics.

If we offer an option to receive marketing communications through the Wi-Fi experience, marketing consent will be handled according to applicable law. Where separate marketing consent is required, simply connecting to Sequel Wi-Fi does not by itself constitute consent to receive promotional communications.

You may withdraw marketing consent without losing the ability to visit Sequel or purchase our products.

6. Email and Text Message Marketing

If you elect to receive promotional emails, you may unsubscribe using the unsubscribe link included in those communications or by contacting us.

If Sequel offers promotional SMS or text messaging, enrollment is voluntary. Consent to receive promotional text messages is not a condition of purchasing goods or services. Message frequency may vary, and standard message and data rates may apply. You may opt out of promotional text messages by following the instructions provided in the message, including replying STOP where applicable.

Opting out of marketing communications does not prevent us from sending non-promotional messages when appropriate, such as order confirmations, receipts, account notices, event communications, security messages, or other transactional communications.

We may maintain records of subscriptions, consent, and opt-out requests as necessary to honor your preferences and comply with applicable law.

Sequel does not sell personal information to third parties for monetary payment.

Certain privacy laws define “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” more broadly than an ordinary sale for money. For example, certain advertising or analytics technologies may involve transmitting identifiers or online activity information to third parties.

These may include Squarespace for website services; Toast for point-of-sale, ordering, loyalty, payments, gift cards, digital receipts, or marketing functionality; Social WiFi for guest Wi-Fi services; payment processors; communications providers; social media platforms; analytics providers; and other business technology providers.

These companies may process information on our behalf, for us and their other customers, or for their own purposes depending on the service involved.

Their collection and use of information may also be governed by their own privacy notices and terms. We encourage you to review the privacy practices of third-party services you choose to use.

Links to third-party websites or services do not mean Sequel controls the privacy or security practices of those third parties.

If you interact with Sequel through Instagram or another social media platform, the platform may collect information about your interaction according to its own privacy policy.

We may receive information you voluntarily provide through comments, direct messages, promotions, forms, or other social media interactions.

Social media platforms may also provide aggregated or analytical information regarding engagement with Sequel’s accounts, content, or advertising.

12. Payment Information

Payments made to Sequel may be processed by third-party payment processors and commerce providers.

These providers may collect payment card information, billing information, device information, and other information needed to authorize and process the transaction.

Sequel generally does not receive or retain complete payment card numbers when payments are processed through these third-party systems.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing Services, maintaining customer or loyalty accounts, fulfilling transactions, maintaining business and accounting records, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, documenting marketing consent and preferences, complying with legal obligations, and enforcing agreements.

Retention periods vary depending on the type of information, the reason it was collected, legal requirements, and the systems in which the information is maintained.

19. Security Cameras at Physical Locations

Sequel locations may use video surveillance in certain areas for safety, security, theft prevention, incident investigation, and protection of guests, employees, and property.

Where used, security footage is accessed and retained only as reasonably necessary for legitimate security, operational, insurance, or legal purposes.

Sequel does not use this Privacy Policy to authorize audio recording where consent or additional notice would be required by law.

Sequel is based in the United States, and our Services are primarily intended for customers in the United States.

If you access our Services from another country, information may be transferred to, processed, or stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those in your country.
